SIGHTSEEING ACCORDING TO GUIDE BOOK: single video, on going project since 2007

Peter Barényi, by sitting in front of famous tourist attractions in public space, draws attention to the role of the spectator as a tourist. The author creates the series of video postcards from the places he visits and he gradually passes through these recommended places and monuments. The minimalist form of the bored self-portrait, where there is only the author-tourist and the place, refers to the so called “trophy collecting” in the sense: I was here, therefore I am...Plzen, Rovinj, London, Saarbruecken, Barcelona, Banska Stiavnica and Bern
The installation placed on the window board and decorated by a flower gives the work a “live dimension” because it corresponds to the digital frames that can be found in many households. The video recording from Banska Stiavnica has found the most suitable location – it is exhibited right in the information centre in Banska Stiavnica.



PAMIATKY PODĽA SPRIEVODCU: single video, projekt v procese od roku 2007

Tichým sedením pred turisticky atraktívnymi pamiatkami vo verejnom priestore Peter Barényi zároveň problematizuje aj rolu diváka ako turistu. Autor vytvára sériu videopohľadníc z miest, ktoré navštevuje a postupne prechádza odporúčané pamiatky a lokality. Minimalistická forma znudeného časozberného autoportrétu, kde je iba autor-turista a miesto, odkazuje na zbieranie trofejí v zmysle hesla: bol som tu, teda som... Plzeň, Rovinj, Londýn, Saarbruecken, Barcelona, Banská Štiavnica, Bern. Inštalácia na parapete okna s kvetinou ako dekoráciou dodáva dielu live „rozmer“, ktorý korešponduje s umiestnením digitálnych rámikov v bežných domácnostiach. Videozáznam z Banskej Štiavnice si našiel najvhodnejšie umiestnenie- je vystavený priamo a navždy v Banskej Štiavnici v informačnom centre.
